There’s Free Gold and Refunds in Them Thar Hills
Rockstar has announced that they’re beginning to implement some of the updates and changes to Red Dead Online they’re making in part due to player feedback. The team also promises gifts of cash and gold (the in-game premium currency) to players who have participated in the beta up through midnight (PT) tonight.
The most notable updates are that cash and gold payouts throughout all game modes will increase, price drops on most weapons in in-game shops and refunds for players that have already purchased them at full price.
Today we are starting to implement the first set of adjustments to the game including changes specifically geared towards creating a more balanced, fun and rewarding overall experience, across all modes and missions. These include:
- Increasing the cash and gold payments across a number of different activities including Free Roam Missions, Free Roam Events, replays of A Land of Opportunities Missions, Showdown Series modes and more.
- Reducing the prices of most weapons in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co Catalogue and Gunsmiths. For players that have already purchased weapons at the previous prices, we will automatically deposit the difference to player balances starting today – please look for an alert message the next time you log in to the Red Dead Online Beta to notify you of this change, refunds may take up until December 10th to reach all players.
- Balancing the values of select pelts, skins and fish as well as horse reviver and pamphlets.
RDO players who have participated in the Beta thus far will also receive an in-game gift of $250 and 15 Gold Bars, which will start being distributed today and should be in everyone’s possession by Friday, December 14th. Players who have yet to play the beta can still claim this reward by logging in before 12:00AM (PT) tonight.
The Rockstar team has also pledged that their “efforts to improve and balance the Red Dead Online Beta will continue,” saying that they’re continuing to work on the issue of players being kicked from sessions, and that they’ll continue to review all of the community feedback they receive throughout the coming weeks. The full text of the update announcement can be read here, and for those of you playing the Red Dead Online beta yourselves, Rockstar is still accepting feedback here.
