How To Get Your Free 'Save The World' Founder's Pack Skins In 'Fortnite: Battle Royale'

"Free" is a complicated term in this instance, as it so often is. Getting your free Founder’s Pack skins in Fortnite: Battle Royale will, on a technical level, cost you money: 50% off makes them $19.99 at the time of this writing. But you may well have already spent that money, and regardless you’re not really spending that money on two legendary skins in Fortnite: Battle Royale. You’re spending that money for the early "Founder’s pack" Fortnite: Save the World, Battle Royale’s older zombie survival sibling. And now you’ll be getting some Battle Royale skins along with that purchase, ergo: free. So here’s how to get your free Save the World Founder’s Pack skins in Fortnite: Battle Royale.

I feel like we heard about these skins an eon ago, but regardless: Epic Games announced that they’re finally coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale with the 5.10 patch tomorrow. All Founder’s Pack owners will get the "Warpaint" and "Rose Team Leader" skins, which you can see below. Neither is quite as absurd as some of the more recent skins we’ve seen with either the Season 5 battle pass or in the premium market: they’re both in the vein of Fortnite: Battle Royale as more straight-ahead cartoony military game rather than an absurd spectacle of fast food mascots murdering people in shark costumes on go-karts. Neither appears to have any back bling, though we also can’t see their backs very well in the image.

Regardless, the only thing you’ll need to do for this is to purchase one of the Founder’s Packs for Fortnite: Save the World. For those just joining us, Save the World is the button right above Battle Royale on that first Fortnite screen: it’s a wave-based game where you build forts to defend against zombie hordes, and while it borrows the weapons and general aesthetic from Fortnite, it plays pretty differently. It’s worth checking out on its own merit, even if it has some issues: Epic has promised to make it free sometime in 2018, assumedly without these Founder’s Pack skins. The most basic Founder’s Pack currently costs $19.99.

Free items in the past have either been deposited directly into a player’s locker or have required you to click on a free redemption button in the item store. The skins will be going live with the free update tomorrow, July 24, so we’ll update when we know which of these two methods we’ll need to use to redeem our skins.
