Amazon Prime Day's Best Xbox One Gaming Deals (US)

Written by admin

We’ve still got a few months to go before Black Friday, but in the meantime, Amazon Prime Day 2018 is here. What that means for you is that Amazon is flooded with countless deals–some of them good, some of them bad. These cover a huge range of products, including video games and other things tied to Xbox One. Below, you’ll find our roundup of the best deals for the platform.

The games section has been expanded greatly, as Amazon has a big sale happening on digital Xbox One games. Digital Xbox One games in many cases can be especially desirable, because as with titles like Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Horizon 7, they can support Xbox Play Anywhere. This gets you access on not just Xbox One, but PC as well. Those interested in digital games may also want to look at the offer on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s Netflix-style subscription service where it now debuts all of its first-party games on the day they are released. By purchasing six months at the regular price, you get three months for free. Additionally, new Lightning Deals will also cycle in throughout the sale, so there will be more still to come.

To take advantage of these prices, you’ll need to have an active Prime membership. Fortunately, even if you don’t, you can sign up for a free trial so long as you haven’t been a member in the past year. You can cancel before that auto-renews, getting you access to the full sale (and other Prime perks, including free games from Twitch Prime) for a limited time.

There are two key things you’ll want to be aware of as you hunt for deals during Prime Day. Many of these will be very time-restricted, ending even before Prime Day wraps up at midnight on the night of Tuesday, July 17 (3 AM ET on July 18). That means you’ll need to act fast. But keep in mind that not everything is a good deal–we’ve got Prime Day shopping tips to help you sort through things, and we’ll continue to update our roundups with the best deals we find.

With the sale only just getting underway, there aren’t a ton of hardware deals yet. One we’ve found involves the Xbox One S Starter Bundle, which comes equipped with a 1 TB hard drive and three months of both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass (which gets you unlimited access to lots of games for as long as you’re a subscriber). This is available for $230, and as an added Prime Day bonus, you get a copy of Rare Replay (which itself consists of a bunch of classic Rare games) for free. Amazon also some other promotions that might be worth taking advantage of in relation to this, such as getting three months of Gold for $15 or an Xbox One controller for $50–both only available when buying an eligible console.

Those in the UK also have access to a nice deal of their own, involving an Xbox One S bundle with three games and a controller.

We’re still hunting for accessories deals, and hopefully we’ll see Xbox One controllers discounted at some point. Xbox Game Pass, which is Microsoft’s Netflix-style subscription service that lets you download and play an unlimited amount of more than 100 games, is on sale right now. By buying six months for $60, you get an additional three months for free. If you know you’re going to subscribe anyway–all of Microsoft’s first-party exclusives launch day and date on Game Pass–that’s a good way to save some cash.
