MTSU hosted a summer STEM camp for young girls to inspire them to take on the world of science and engineering.
The students learned how to code and build games online, but the four-wheeled rover stole the show.
“Being able to ride the rover racers, and you go over those lumps and it’s just like so fun whenever you jump up. It feels like you are actually in space,” said 11-year-old camper Kaniyah King.
The goal was giving the girls a better understanding of math and science and a confidence they can do anything
“It’s just exciting to see them, especially at this age when they think maybe they can’t do it or when they like it, and then they love it and they are deciding ‘Hey, I can do science too,” said MTSU math professor Ginger Rowell. “It’s not just for boys, it’s absolutely for me.”
Students closed out the camp by making posters to show their parents everything they learned.
