The meteors are coming, and so are the aliens.

New evidence suggests that the meteors in Fortnite’s sky are poised to crash into the game’s map any second now.

Or any day now, at the very least. The clues all point to an impending cosmic event that will almost certainly lineup with the start of Week 10.

These meteors joined the much larger comet in the game’s sky last week. And a growing body of evidence suggests that this is all about to go down.

Let’s take a look at all the clues (follow the links for more in-depth information about each one):

 • New datamining shows a whole bunch of different sound effects for the meteors. There’s sound files for them falling from a distance, breaking open and so forth. See all the different sound files and listen to them in action over at FortniteIntel.
 • Earlier this morning, an emergency broadcast began in the game and a weird llama image showed up on all the TVs in the map.
 • Yesterday, the v3.6 update included a strange new outdoor living room on top of one of Tilted Tower’s tallest buildings. Several signs on the rooftop indicated the comet was about to make landfall.
 • A tiny alien spaceship / flying saucer has also appeared in the sky near the comet, indicating an alien presence is involved. One of the signs in the above link is of a flying saucer.
 • The story in the ‘Save The World’ mode (which also has a comet in the sky, by the way) points to an alien arrival, possibly showing up in Lucky Landing. Because, well, ‘Landing’ sure sounds like where I’d land my spaceship. Given it was an area added for the Chinese New Year, it makes sense if it Lucky Lnading gets leveled rather than Tilted Towers (though that’s still a possibility.)
 • On top of all this, we’ve already seen new telescopes dotting the map, all pointing to the comet. We’ve also had tons of space-themed cosmetics this season, including several spacesuit skins.
 • Two new modes coming to the game possibly this week have also leaked online. The first is Carmine. The second is Impact, which certainly sounds like meteors hitting the earth or an alien shuttle landing.

All of these clues point to the inevitable: The meteors are about to crash into Fortnite, quite possibly for a new game mode. And an alien shuttle is also about to make landfall. It’s less certain whether the comet itself will crash into the game and destroy part of the map, though that also seems like a distinct possibility. It’s also possible that the comet is an alien spacecraft but evidence suggests they’re not one and the same celestial body.

When all of this actually happens is up in the air. It could be as soon as tomorrow or even later today with the beginning of Week 10, or it could be at the very end of Week 10, rounding out Season 3 and preparing us for Season 4 which, at this point, will almost certainly be alien themed (barring massive map destruction and some emergence of monsters or dinosaurs.) My bet is that the meteors start landing for the Impact game mode in Week 10 but the comet/alien spaceship don’t make landfall until the end of the season.

What a fun game-within-a-game.

I have to hand it to Epic Games: This is a great little game-within-a-game. Right now Epic is on top of the world. Fortnite: Battle Royale is one of the most popular games ever made. Everyone is talking about it. Epic could just sit pretty and let the cash come pouring in. Instead they’re doing this, introducing mystery and intrigue and letting fan theories run wild. It’s great. Much kudos to Epic for keeping things fun.

If I’ve missed any clues, please let me know on Twitter or Facebook. I’ll add it to the post. Thanks!
