Mysterious new Apple IDs hint at an iPhone SE 2 release in May

Written by admin

Apple‘s tiny warrior, the iPhone SE, is getting a bit long in the tooth already, and the gang from Cupertino might be readying a worthy successor. We’ve been hearing about an eventual SE 2 for a while now, but the appearance of a number of brand new iPhone IDs in the Eurasian Economic Commission regulatory database, may signify that a press release is near.

Such new identifiers usually land in said database about a month before the actual announcement, as it happened with the HomePod, or Apple’s new iPad, and it’s not out of the question that we might be seeing a minor upgrade of the iPhone SE internals in the same housing package soon. The chipset is long overdue for an upgrade, as are the camera and storage memory amount; after all, the SE was launched full two years ago.

There are eleven brand new iPhone identifiers unearthed in total – A1920, A1921, A1984, A2097, A2098, A2099, A2101, A2103, A2104, A2105, and A2106 – which hints at different colors and memory amounts, but it’s too early in the 2018 game for those to be of the upcoming iPhone 9, Xs and Xs Plus. Thus, we can wait with bated breath Apple to release something in the next month or so.

If an eventual iPhone SE 2 is a small upgrade, it likely won’t be taking center stage at the WWDC conference starting on June 4th, so if an upgraded version of Apple’s most affordable handset is around the corner, you are probably going to read about it in a press release issued during the second half of May.
